According to Associated Press , World Health Organization's Emergency Committee is considering declaring Monkeypox as a global emergency as the number of affected are increasing worldwide.
WHO director, Tedros Adenoma told the emergency committee that , he is concerned about the number of cases ,in an increasing number of countries that have been reported,he also said it is pleasing to hear that in some countries number of new cases are dropping, unfortunately in other countries, the number of new cases continues increasing.
Currently, there are more than 15.000 cases worldwide, even though those developed countries have bought vaccines, 70 death due to monkeypox were reported in different affected countries mainly in developing countries.
The UN Health agency said this week that outside of Africa,99% of all reported monkeypox cases in men and 98% in men who had sex with other men.
But the disease can also spread through physical contact with someone infected ,regardless of their sexual orientation.
the US Public Health Experts have begun to wonder if the outbreak is becoming more widespread enough that monkeypox will become a new sexually transmitted disease.
Declaring Monkeypox as a global emergency could inadvertently worsen the rush for vaccines, despite the mildness of the disease being seen in most countries.
Monkeypox was first discovered in Congo in monkeys but later it was seen in humans.it is a zoonotic disease means that it can be transmitted to huma n from animals ,but human also can infect another human.
